The Report on Russia’s foreign trade in goods with Bangladesh in the fourth quarter of 2017: exports, imports, products, dynamics.
Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh was $491,702,670, down 9.53% ($51,796,950) from the 4th quarter of 2016.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $294,372,527, down 24.22% ($94,064,827) from the 4th quarter of 2016.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $197,330,143, up 27.26% ($42,267,877) from the 4th quarter of 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $97,042,384, a 58.42% decrease ($136,332,704) over the 4th quarter of 2016.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 51st largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 44th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2942% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3988% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 52nd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 43rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2862% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.4633% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 45th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 48th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3070% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2957% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 59.91% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (29.11% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 12.22% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (20.95% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.65% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (4.88% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.87% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (0.00% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.96% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (0.35% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.42% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (0.93% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

- Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $25,837,093;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $18,254,878;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $11,950,333;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $9,758,063;
- Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - an increase of $4,409,338;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $4,218,269;
- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - an increase of $2,043,100.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $50,568,173;
- Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $10,720,923.
