Russia’s Trade with Guatemala

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Guatemala totaled $17,672,522, up 235.97% ($12,412,295) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $5,348,934, up 327.54% ($4,097,825) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $12,323,588, up 207.39% ($8,314,470) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $6,974,654, a 152.89% increase ($4,216,645) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Guatemala was Russia’s 125th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 141st in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0106% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0039% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Guatemala was Russia’s 129th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 147th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0052% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0015% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Guatemala was Russia’s 96th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 108th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0192% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0076% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Guatemala

The major share of Russian exports to Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 65.78% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (4.79% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 19.67% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (0.00% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.70% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (67.98% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.09% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (24.58% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.60% of Russia’s total exports to Guatemala (1.85% in the 4th quarter of 2016);

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $3,518,268;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,052,175;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $47,916;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - an increase of $47,376;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $34,020;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $17,200.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $342,338;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $128,254;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $59,936;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $42,788;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - a decrease of $30,050;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $19,227.

Russia’s Imports from Guatemala

The major share of Russian imports from Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 98.85% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (98.71% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.86% of Russia’s total imports from Guatemala (1.29% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Guatemala in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $84,853;
  • Live trees and other plants; bulbs, roots and the like; cut flowers and ornamental foliage (HS code 06) - a decrease of $70,219.
