Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Mozambique totaled $35,732,067, up 181.02% ($23,016,873) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $31,238,653, up 556.72% ($26,481,857) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $4,493,414, down 43.54% ($3,464,984) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Mozambique went from a deficit of $3,201,602 in the 4th quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $26,745,239 in the 4th quarter of 2017.

Mozambique was Russia’s 110th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 126th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0214% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0093% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Mozambique was Russia’s 93rd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 125th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0304% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0057% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Mozambique was Russia’s 105th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 98th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0070% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0152% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 82.47% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (76.67% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 14.54% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (16.50% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.59% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (5.97% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $22,147,388;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $3,756,625;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $523,340;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $116,037.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • No product groups with a substantial decrease.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

The major share of Russian imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.87% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (99.99% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $525,844.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $4,001,076.
