Russia’s Trade with Puerto Rico

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Puerto Rico was $62,731,236, down 0.01% ($6,811) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $20,032,376, down 10.53% ($2,357,999) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $42,698,860, up 5.83% ($2,351,188) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $22,666,484, a 26.22% increase ($4,709,187) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 94th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 95th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0375% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0460% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Puerto Rico was Russia’s 75th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 73rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0664% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0770% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The major share of Russian exports to Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 93.14% of Russia’s total exports to Puerto Rico (94.70% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.86% of Russia’s total exports to Puerto Rico (5.30% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $188,745.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

The major share of Russian imports from Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 98.56% of Russia’s total imports from Puerto Rico (92.99% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.68% of Russia’s total imports from Puerto Rico (6.27% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $4,585,698;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $138,769.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Puerto Rico in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $2,224,169.
