Russia’s Trade with the Czech Republic

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with the Czech Republic totaled $2,023,151,499, up 18.44% ($314,959,406) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to the Czech Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $977,414,040, up 7.55% ($68,599,997) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from the Czech Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $1,045,737,459, up 30.82% ($246,359,409) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with the Czech Republic went from a surplus of $109,435,993 in the 4th quarter of 2016, to a deficit of $68,323,419 in the 4th quarter of 2017.

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 18th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.2104% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.2535% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 24th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 23rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9502% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.0840% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The Czech Republic was Russia’s 16th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (just as in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.6268% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.5246% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to the Czech Republic

The major share of Russian exports to the Czech Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 73.78% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (67.92% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 8.40% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (5.23% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.51% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (5.19% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.21% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (10.72% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 1.70% of Russia’s total exports to the Czech Republic (2.46% in the 4th quarter of 2016);

  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $5,474,994.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Czech Republic in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $33,230,493;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $5,814,943;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $4,038,192;
