Russia’s Trade with Peru

In 2017, Russia’s trade with Peru totaled $375,352,028, up 23.75% ($72,037,721) from 2016.

Russia’s exports to Peru in 2017 totaled $262,741,532, up 25.21% ($52,904,740) from 2016.

Russia’s imports from Peru in 2017 totaled $112,610,496, up 20.47% ($19,132,981) from 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Peru in 2017 was $150,131,036, a 29.02% increase ($33,771,759) over 2016.

Peru was Russia’s 86th largest trading partner in 2017 (down from 85th in 2016), accounting for 0.0643% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0648% in 2016).

Peru was Russia’s 79th largest export market in 2017 (down from 78th in 2016), accounting for 0.0736% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0735% in 2016).

Peru was Russia’s 82nd largest supplier in 2017 (just as in 2016), accounting for 0.0496% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0513% in 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Peru

The major share of Russian exports to Peru in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 54.18% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (48.92% in 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 15.81% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (9.32% in 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.79% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (18.59% in 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 9.84% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (12.27% in 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.27% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (3.97% in 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.99% of Russia’s total exports to Peru (5.22% in 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Peru in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $35,807,507;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $21,845,902;
  • Explosives; pyrotechnic products; matches; pyrophoric alloys; certain combustible preparations (HS code 36) - an increase of $1,719,659;
  • Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - an increase of $1,432,817;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,157,528.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Peru in 2017 over 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $3,195,700;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $2,429,777;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $2,313,285;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,622,054.
