Russia’s Trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Bosnia and Herzegovina was $44,359,966, down 4.84% ($2,257,175) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $26,058,495, up 33.62% ($6,556,354) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $18,301,471, down 32.50% ($8,813,529) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Bosnia and Herzegovina went from a deficit of $7,612,859 in the 1st quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $7,757,024 in the 1st quarter of 2018.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 100th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 97th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0281% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0363% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 97th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0253% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0234% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Russia’s 87th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 80th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0335% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0600% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 64.11% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (68.05% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.43% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (12.47% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 9.98% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (12.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.14% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (0.42% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.88% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (2.95% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.74% of Russia’s total exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina (2.10% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $3,416,031;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,332,166;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,071,392;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $437,586;
  • Raw hides and skins (other than furskins) and leather (HS code 41) - an increase of $392,157;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $319,336;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $204,332;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $152,957.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $436,920;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $292,678;
  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $193,667.

Russia’s Imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The major share of Russian imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 26.86% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (34.06% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 22.88% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (11.24% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.38% of Russia’s total imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina (46.45% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
