Russia’s Trade with Georgia

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Georgia totaled $337,629,494, up 55.35% ($120,298,391) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $259,892,743, up 93.54% ($125,609,084) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $77,736,751, down 6.39% ($5,310,693) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $182,155,992, a 255.52% increase ($130,919,777) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Georgia was Russia’s 57th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 61st in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2142% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1691% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Georgia was Russia’s 56th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 60th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.2523% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1611% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Georgia was Russia’s 63rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 58th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1423% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.1837% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Georgia

The major share of Russian exports to Georgia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 26.42% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (35.14% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 20.61% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (32.32% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 12.17% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (12.29% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 6.92% of Russia’s total exports to Georgia (10.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
