Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Indonesia was $575,914,676, down 14.91% ($100,927,223) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $141,408,637, down 11.95% ($19,183,631) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 were $434,506,039, down 15.83% ($81,743,592) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $293,097,402, a 17.59% decrease ($62,559,961) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Indonesia was Russia’s 43rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 37th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.3654% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.5265% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Indonesia was Russia’s 65th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 57th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1373% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1927% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Indonesia was Russia’s 28th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 22nd in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.7957% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.1417% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 32.36% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (15.32% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.93% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (24.21% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 21.64% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (23.67% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 13.44% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (12.95% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.46% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (16.59% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.10% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (6.55% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $18,051,826;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $3,349,631;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $2,513,820;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,748,441;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $1,070,943;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $886,176;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $780,571.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $21,694,039;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $7,824,093;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $6,452,573;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $5,976,333;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $1,943,979;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $1,548,414;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $926,850;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $852,802.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 51.97% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (42.18% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 16.76% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (12.85% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 13.46% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (26.02% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 11.62% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (9.99% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.21% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (0.97% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
