Russia’s Trade with Israel

In the 1st quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Israel totaled $714,120,260, up 24.72% ($141,545,196) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Israel in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $486,927,845, up 28.65% ($108,429,329) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Israel in the 1st quarter of 2018 totaled $227,192,415, up 17.06% ($33,115,867) from the 1st quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Israel in the 1st quarter of 2018 was $259,735,430, a 40.84% increase ($75,313,462) over the 1st quarter of 2017.

Israel was Russia’s 38th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 40th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4530% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.4454% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Israel was Russia’s 39th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2018 (down from 38th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4726% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4542% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Israel was Russia’s 37th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2018 (up from 40th in the 1st quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.4160% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.4292% in the 1st quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Israel

The major share of Russian exports to Israel in the 1st quarter of 2018 (and in the 1st quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 39.96% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (39.42% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 38.34% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (38.43% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 8.42% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (4.03% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.31% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (10.00% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.50% of Russia’s total exports to Israel (4.07% in the 1st quarter of 2017);

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $26,302,703;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $5,843,177;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $1,770,206;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $1,765,260.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Israel in the 1st quarter of 2018 over the 1st quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $12,685,939;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $2,147,275.

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 16.83% of Russia’s total imports from Israel (15.09% in the 1st quarter of 2017);
