Russia’s Trade with Colombia

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Colombia was $78,495,296, down 12.26% ($10,966,006) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $42,767,884, down 23.55% ($13,175,002) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $35,727,412, up 6.59% ($2,208,996) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $7,040,472, a 68.60% decrease ($15,383,998) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Colombia was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0459% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0640% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Colombia was Russia’s 93rd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 83rd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0388% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0666% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Colombia was Russia’s 78th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0589% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0601% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Colombia

The major share of Russian exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 41.14% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (19.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 28.30% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (23.16% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.30% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (5.81% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.86% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (43.54% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.46% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (1.24% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 0.38% of Russia’s total exports to Colombia (3.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $7,169,171;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $2,744,181;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $1,485,400;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $862,908;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - an increase of $806,794;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $646,755;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $350,427;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $144,964;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $137,432.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $20,996,005;
  • Natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones,precious metals, metals clad with precious metal and articles thereof; imitation jewelry; coin (HS code 71) - a decrease of $1,580,958;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $1,015,837;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $931,813;
  • Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - a decrease of $876,248;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $626,659;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $180,710.

The major share of Russian imports from Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 88.74% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (90.90% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 5.41% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (3.53% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.40% of Russia’s total imports from Colombia (1.83% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Colombia in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:
