Russia’s Trade with Greece

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Greece totaled $1,094,205,490, up 10.68% ($105,556,283) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Greece in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $1,022,431,001, up 10.18% ($94,448,142) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Greece in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $71,774,489, up 18.31% ($11,108,141) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Greece in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $950,656,512, a 9.61% increase ($83,340,001) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Greece was Russia’s 32nd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 29th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6402% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7074% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Greece was Russia’s 26th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 21st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.9278% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.1051% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Greece was Russia’s 66th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.1182% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1088% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Greece

The major share of Russian exports to Greece in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 86.94% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (66.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 9.31% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (28.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.79% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (1.61% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.04% of Russia’s total exports to Greece (0.73% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $268,864,519;
  • Lead and articles thereof (HS code 78) - an increase of $8,250,552;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $5,830,891;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $3,683,435;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $3,090,460.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Greece in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $140,004,566;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $31,310,390;
  • Zinc and articles thereof (HS code 79) - a decrease of $9,868,495.

Russia’s Imports from Greece
