Russia’s Trade with Montenegro

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Montenegro totaled $10,659,927, up 259.50% ($7,694,717) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $1,308,070, down 27.54% ($497,235) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $9,351,857, up 706.26% ($8,191,952) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Montenegro went from a surplus of $645,400 in the 2nd quarter of 2017, to a deficit of $8,043,787 in the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Montenegro was Russia’s 133rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 153rd in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0062% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0021% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Montenegro was Russia’s 154th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 147th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0012% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0021% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Montenegro was Russia’s 97th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 126th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0154% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0021% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Montenegro

The major share of Russian exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 39.95% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (26.80% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 34.13% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (39.12% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 22.09% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (13.20% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.41% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (1.45% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.35% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (0.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.70% of Russia’s total exports to Montenegro (19.30% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $119,450;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $109,837;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $50,659;
  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - an increase of $15,793;
  • Preparations of vegetables, fruit, nuts or other parts of plants (HS code 20) - an increase of $9,366;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $6,611.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $347,705;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $320,372;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $40,871;
  • Miscellaneous edible preparations (HS code 21) - a decrease of $37,684;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $27,004;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $21,482;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $11,002;
  • Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - a decrease of $9,478.

Russia’s Imports from Montenegro

The major share of Russian imports from Montenegro in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 93.83% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (31.40% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.23% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (1.19% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.00% of Russia’s total imports from Montenegro (28.97% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).
