Russia’s Trade with Mozambique

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Mozambique was $11,593,965, down 24.48% ($3,758,914) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $6,866,870, down 24.61% ($2,241,716) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 were $4,727,095, down 24.30% ($1,517,198) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $2,139,775, a 25.29% decrease ($724,518) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Mozambique was Russia’s 131st largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 121st in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0068% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0110% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Mozambique was Russia’s 126th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 117th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0062% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0108% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Mozambique was Russia’s 107th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (down from 100th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0078% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0112% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Mozambique

The major share of Russian exports to Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 46.81% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (68.86% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 38.33% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (24.47% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 10.49% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (0.00% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 4.10% of Russia’s total exports to Mozambique (6.67% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $707,716;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $381,862;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - an increase of $21,107.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $3,083,590;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $325,583.

Russia’s Imports from Mozambique

The major share of Russian imports from Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 99.30% of Russia’s total imports from Mozambique (99.96% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible fruit and nuts; peel of citrus fruit or melons (HS code 08) - an increase of $416,530;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $31,183.

The largest declines in Russia’s imports from Mozambique in the 2nd quarter of 2018 over the 2nd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $1,885,626;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $78,610.
