Russia’s Trade with the Dominican Republic

In the 2nd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with the Dominican Republic totaled $41,739,627, up 224.07% ($28,859,646) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to the Dominican Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $35,367,071, up 354.81% ($27,590,763) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from the Dominican Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 totaled $6,372,556, up 24.86% ($1,268,883) from the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with the Dominican Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 was $28,994,515, a 984.87% increase ($26,321,880) over the 2nd quarter of 2017.

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 106th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 125th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0244% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0092% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 95th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 120th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0321% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0093% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

The Dominican Republic was Russia’s 102nd largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (up from 104th in the 2nd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0105% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0091% in the 2nd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Imports from the Dominican Republic

The major share of Russian imports from the Dominican Republic in the 2nd quarter of 2018 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 34.05% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (44.76% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 29.34% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (29.03% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 22.82% of Russia’s total imports from the Dominican Republic (14.29% in the 2nd quarter of 2017);

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - a decrease of $252,714;
  • Coffee, tea, maté and spices (HS code 09) - a decrease of $88,849;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $64,846;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - a decrease of $34,319.
