Russia’s Trade with Qatar

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Qatar was $22,807,818, down 5.12% ($1,231,637) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $9,687,273, down 41.33% ($6,824,891) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $13,120,545, up 74.31% ($5,593,254) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with Qatar went from a surplus of $8,984,873 in the 3rd quarter of 2017, to a deficit of $3,433,272 in the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Qatar was Russia’s 123rd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 115th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0133% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0164% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Qatar was Russia’s 121st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 106th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0086% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0193% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Qatar was Russia’s 94th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 98th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.0219% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0124% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Qatar

The major share of Russian exports to Qatar in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 62.73% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (73.76% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.49% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (3.10% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 8.31% of Russia’s total exports to Qatar (13.31% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);

  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $117,532;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $77,303;
  • Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, not knitted or crocheted (HS code 62) - an increase of $42,759;

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $172,364;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $133,274;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $98,038;
