Russia’s Trade with Singapore

In the 3rd quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with Singapore totaled $1,051,584,323, up 23.74% ($201,783,152) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to Singapore in the 3rd quarter of 2018 were $671,307,154, down 0.13% ($846,252) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from Singapore in the 3rd quarter of 2018 totaled $380,277,169, up 114.06% ($202,629,404) from the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade surplus with Singapore in the 3rd quarter of 2018 was $291,029,985, a 41.15% decrease ($203,475,656) over the 3rd quarter of 2017.

Singapore was Russia’s 36th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6111% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5813% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Singapore was Russia’s 34th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (down from 29th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.5983% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.7874% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Singapore was Russia’s 32nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (up from 45th in the 3rd quarter of 2017), accounting for 0.6351% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.2921% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

Russia’s Exports to Singapore

The major share of Russian exports to Singapore in the 3rd quarter of 2018 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 96.81% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (91.54% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.15% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (0.20% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.61% of Russia’s total exports to Singapore (7.25% in the 3rd quarter of 2017).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Singapore in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $35,561,592;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $6,873,925;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $2,159,299.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Singapore in the 3rd quarter of 2018 over the 3rd quarter of 2017 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - a decrease of $33,500,000;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $12,795,249.

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.95% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (18.81% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.15% of Russia’s total imports from Singapore (3.10% in the 3rd quarter of 2017);
