Russia’s Trade with France

In the 4th quarter of 2018, Russia’s trade with France was $4,502,117,195, down 2.12% ($97,562,263) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s exports to France in the 4th quarter of 2018 totaled $2,343,466,925, up 43.03% ($705,028,022) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s imports from France in the 4th quarter of 2018 were $2,158,650,270, down 27.10% ($802,590,285) from the 4th quarter of 2017.

Russia’s trade balance with France went from a deficit of $1,322,801,652 in the 4th quarter of 2017, to a surplus of $184,816,655 in the 4th quarter of 2018.

France was Russia’s 12th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 11th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 2.4097% of Russia’s total trade (down from 2.7519% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

France was Russia’s 16th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2018 (up from 19th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 1.8824% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.5928% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

France was Russia’s 7th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2018 (down from 6th in the 4th quarter of 2017), accounting for 3.4625% of Russia’s total imports (down from 4.6068% in the 4th quarter of 2017).

The major share of Russian exports to France in the 4th quarter of 2018 (and in the 4th quarter of 2017) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 89.76% of Russia’s total exports to France (81.12% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.36% of Russia’s total exports to France (3.73% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.16% of Russia’s total exports to France (3.85% in the 4th quarter of 2017);
