Russia’s Trade with Algeria

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Algeria was $399,626,756, down 27.03% ($148,004,057) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $397,212,586, down 26.89% ($146,102,370) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $2,414,170, down 44.06% ($1,901,687) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $394,798,416, a 26.75% decrease ($144,200,683) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Algeria was Russia’s 56th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 46th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2496% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.3204% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Algeria was Russia’s 42nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 40th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.3942% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.4930% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Algeria was Russia’s 121st largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 111th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0041% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0071% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Algeria

The major share of Russian exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 40.43% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (6.57% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 16.99% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (20.51% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 9.88% of Russia’s total exports to Algeria (16.32% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $6,629,300.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Algeria in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $43,446,991;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $21,727,322;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $12,636,899;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $12,036,921;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $9,532,018;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $7,149,627;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $3,038,311.
