The Report on Russia’s foreign trade in goods with Bangladesh in the second quarter of 2019: exports, imports, products, dynamics.
Russia’s Trade with Bangladesh
In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Bangladesh totaled $405,108,795, up 0.50% ($1,999,388) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $150,662,288, down 8.87% ($14,658,028) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s imports from Bangladesh in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $254,446,507, up 7.01% ($16,657,416) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.
Russia’s trade deficit with Bangladesh in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $103,784,219, a 43.21% increase ($31,315,444) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.
Bangladesh was Russia’s 55th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 57th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2531% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2359% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 64th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 68th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1495% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1500% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).
Bangladesh was Russia’s 40th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.4289% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.3917% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).
Russia’s Exports to Bangladesh
The major share of Russian exports to Bangladesh in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 58.41% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (68.31% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 18.12% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (10.08% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 12.40% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (5.48% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 6.54% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (6.63% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.02% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (3.93% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.99% of Russia’s total exports to Bangladesh (4.95% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

- Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $8,121,901;
- Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $3,927,411;
- Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $2,198,338;
- Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $845,402;
- Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $676,072;
- Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $627,766.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Bangladesh in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $15,946,117;
- Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $8,428,657;
- Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $7,595,775;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $5,892,348;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,123,893;
- Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,594,555;
- Printed books, newspapers, pictures and other products of the printing industry; manuscripts, typescripts and plans (HS code 49) - a decrease of $1,216,055;
- Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits; miscellaneous grains, seeds and fruits; industrial or medicinal plants; straw and fodder (HS code 12) - a decrease of $1,167,293.
