Russia’s Trade with Sudan

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Sudan was $35,697,858, down 78.49% ($130,291,544) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $35,597,273, down 78.55% ($130,364,413) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $100,585, up 262.91% ($72,869) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $35,496,688, a 78.61% decrease ($130,437,282) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Sudan was Russia’s 103rd largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 79th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0223% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0971% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Sudan was Russia’s 92nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 67th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0353% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.1506% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Sudan was Russia’s 154th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 157th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0002% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0000% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Sudan

The major share of Russian exports to Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 65.31% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (92.34% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 17.85% of Russia’s total exports to Sudan (0.07% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $177,887;
  • Headgear and parts thereof (HS code 65) - an increase of $142,815.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sudan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - a decrease of $6,529,087;

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $1,825,991;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - a decrease of $1,064,530;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $465,942;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $266,788;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $179,340;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - a decrease of $164,270.
