Russia’s Trade with Tajikistan

In the 2nd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with Tajikistan totaled $274,354,809, up 1.88% ($5,073,203) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 totaled $268,061,476, up 2.64% ($6,891,478) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were $6,293,333, down 22.42% ($1,818,275) from the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade surplus with Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was $261,768,143, a 3.44% increase ($8,709,753) over the 2nd quarter of 2018.

Tajikistan was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 71st in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.1714% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1576% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 52nd largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (up from 53rd in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2660% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2370% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Tajikistan was Russia’s 109th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (down from 99th in the 2nd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.0106% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0134% in the 2nd quarter of 2018).

Russia’s Exports to Tajikistan

The major share of Russian exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2018) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 29.47% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (22.88% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 19.64% of Russia’s total exports to Tajikistan (8.66% in the 2nd quarter of 2018);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tajikistan in the 2nd quarter of 2019 over the 2nd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $1,767,337;
