Russia’s Trade with South Africa

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Russia’s trade with South Africa totaled $363,467,032, up 6.04% ($20,711,289) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s exports to South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2019 totaled $131,839,454, up 19.89% ($21,867,926) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s imports from South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2019 were $231,627,578, down 0.50% ($1,156,637) from the 3rd quarter of 2018.

Russia’s trade deficit with South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2019 was $99,788,124, a 18.75% decrease ($23,024,563) over the 3rd quarter of 2018.

South Africa was Russia’s 58th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2019 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2018), accounting for 0.2191% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1992% in the 3rd quarter of 2018).

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to South Africa in the 3rd quarter of 2019 over the 3rd quarter of 2018 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $5,058,106;
