Russia’s Trade with Germany

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Germany was $9,884,192,928, down 23.40% ($3,018,964,280) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Germany in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $4,029,941,918, down 34.50% ($2,123,041,529) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Germany in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $5,854,251,010, down 13.27% ($895,922,751) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade deficit with Germany in the 3rd quarter of 2020 was $1,824,309,092, a 205.48% increase ($1,227,118,778) over the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Germany was Russia’s 2nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 7.2374% of Russia’s total trade (down from 7.7790% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Germany was Russia’s 5th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 4th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 5.1237% of Russia’s total exports (down from 5.9551% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Germany was Russia’s 2nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 10.1078% of Russia’s total imports (down from 10.7919% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Germany

The major share of Russian exports to Germany in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 76.12% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (83.07% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.48% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (2.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.08% of Russia’s total exports to Germany (5.33% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
