Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 3rd quarter of 2020, Russia’s trade with Switzerland was $1,191,323,589, down 31.70% ($552,928,432) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $571,357,362, down 46.21% ($490,784,629) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 were $619,966,227, down 9.11% ($62,143,803) from the 3rd quarter of 2019.

Russia’s trade balance with Switzerland went from a surplus of $380,031,961 in the 3rd quarter of 2019, to a deficit of $48,608,865 in the 3rd quarter of 2020.

Switzerland was Russia’s 22nd largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 19th in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.8723% of Russia’s total trade (down from 1.0516% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Switzerland was Russia’s 28th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (down from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 0.7264% of Russia’s total exports (down from 1.0280% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2019), accounting for 1.0704% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.0905% in the 3rd quarter of 2019).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2019) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 41.71% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (49.34% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 22.45% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (41.60% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 21.27% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (4.78% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.95% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (1.84% in the 3rd quarter of 2019);
