Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In 2011, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $475,947,711, up 31.43% ($113,824,891) from 2010.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in 2011 totaled $126,539,454, up 3.80% ($4,637,712) from 2010.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in 2011 totaled $349,408,257, up 45.45% ($109,187,179) from 2010.

Russia’s trade deficit with Pakistan in 2011 was $222,868,803, a 88.36% increase ($104,549,467) over 2010.

Pakistan was Russia’s 82nd largest trading partner in 2011 (down from 79th in 2010), accounting for 0.0579% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0578% in 2010).

Pakistan was Russia’s 92nd largest export market in 2011 (down from 89th in 2010), accounting for 0.0245% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0307% in 2010).

Pakistan was Russia’s 62nd largest supplier in 2011 (up from 65th in 2010), accounting for 0.1143% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1049% in 2010).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in 2011 (and in 2010) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 57.92% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (43.94% in 2010);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 25.81% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (27.79% in 2010);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 8.00% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (6.64% in 2010);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 3.46% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (0.27% in 2010);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.28% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (3.44% in 2010);

  • Other made up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags (HS code 63) - an increase of $1,260,010;
  • Preparations of meat, of fish or of crustaceans, molluscs or other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 16) - an increase of $1,232,000;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $1,125,084;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $545,571;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - an increase of $381,023.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in 2011 over 2010 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,743,553;
  • Railway or tramway locomotives, rolling-stock and parts thereof; railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings and parts thereof; mechanical (including electro-mechanical) traffic signalling equipment of all kinds (HS code 86) - a decrease of $1,674,416;
  • Man-made staple fibers (HS code 55) - a decrease of $1,658,960;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $885,284;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $556,028;
  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - a decrease of $383,889.
