Russia’s Trade with Brazil

In 2012, Russia’s trade with Brazil was $5,663,080,406, down 13.06% ($850,878,246) from 2011.

Russia’s exports to Brazil in 2012 totaled $2,304,476,653, up 8.45% ($179,564,160) from 2011.

Russia’s imports from Brazil in 2012 were $3,358,603,753, down 23.48% ($1,030,442,406) from 2011.

Russia’s trade deficit with Brazil in 2012 was $1,054,127,100, a 53.44% decrease ($1,210,006,566) over 2011.

Brazil was Russia’s 27th largest trading partner in 2012 (down from 26th in 2011), accounting for 0.6726% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.7920% in 2011).

Brazil was Russia’s 35th largest export market in 2012 (just as in 2011), accounting for 0.4392% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.4112% in 2011).

Brazil was Russia’s 22nd largest supplier in 2012 (down from 17th in 2011), accounting for 1.0586% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.4355% in 2011).

The major share of Russian exports to Brazil in 2012 (and in 2011) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 74.66% of Russia’s total exports to Brazil (79.94% in 2011);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 14.47% of Russia’s total exports to Brazil (14.16% in 2011);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 4.68% of Russia’s total exports to Brazil (2.74% in 2011);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.00% of Russia’s total exports to Brazil (1.13% in 2011).
