In 2013, Russia’s trade with Cuba was $185,110,629, down 15.69% ($34,455,299) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Cuba in 2013 were $157,495,388, down 7.35% ($12,487,834) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Cuba in 2013 were $27,615,241, down 44.30% ($21,967,465) from 2012.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cuba in 2013 was $129,880,147, a 7.87% increase ($9,479,631) over 2012.

Cuba was Russia’s 99th largest trading partner in 2013 (down from 94th in 2012), accounting for 0.0220% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0261% in 2012).

Cuba was Russia’s 91st largest export market in 2013 (down from 90th in 2012), accounting for 0.0299% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0324% in 2012).

Cuba was Russia’s 101st largest supplier in 2013 (down from 95th in 2012), accounting for 0.0088% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0156% in 2012).

The major share of Russian exports to Cuba in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 72.58% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (68.28% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 12.55% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (9.97% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.54% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (3.86% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.91% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (7.91% in 2012);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.29% of Russia’s total exports to Cuba (6.62% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Cuba in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $5,896,876;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $4,538,607;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $2,017,782;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - an increase of $597,600.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cuba in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $21,171,174;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $7,628,017;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $5,498,992;

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.13% of Russia’s total imports from Cuba (0.14% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 0.34% of Russia’s total imports from Cuba (1.20% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Cuba in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:
