Russia’s Trade with Taiwan

In 2013, Russia’s trade with Taiwan totaled $6,358,421,542, up 19.40% ($1,033,102,015) from 2012.

Russia’s exports to Taiwan in 2013 totaled $4,443,361,802, up 33.77% ($1,121,678,410) from 2012.

Russia’s imports from Taiwan in 2013 were $1,915,059,740, down 4.42% ($88,576,395) from 2012.

Russia’s trade surplus with Taiwan in 2013 was $2,528,302,062, a 91.82% increase ($1,210,254,805) over 2012.

Taiwan was Russia’s 27th largest trading partner in 2013 (up from 28th in 2012), accounting for 0.7549% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.6325% in 2012).

Taiwan was Russia’s 27th largest export market in 2013 (up from 29th in 2012), accounting for 0.8427% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.6330% in 2012).

Taiwan was Russia’s 30th largest supplier in 2013 (down from 29th in 2012), accounting for 0.6080% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.6315% in 2012).

Russia’s Exports to Taiwan

The major share of Russian exports to Taiwan in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 63.55% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (50.35% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 31.99% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (44.57% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 2.47% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (2.19% in 2012);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 0.65% of Russia’s total exports to Taiwan (1.07% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Taiwan in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,151,206,612;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $35,086,697.

Russia’s Imports from Taiwan

The major share of Russian imports from Taiwan in 2013 (and in 2012) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 67.14% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (68.90% in 2012);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 14.75% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (13.18% in 2012);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.02% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (9.37% in 2012);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 2.60% of Russia’s total imports from Taiwan (2.47% in 2012).

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Taiwan in 2013 over 2012 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - an increase of $21,820,258;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $11,521,208;
