Russia’s Trade with South Korea

In the 2nd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with South Korea was $3,160,894,222, down 28.24% ($1,244,083,386) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2016 were $1,998,638,826, down 39.98% ($1,331,453,861) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2016 totaled $1,162,255,396, up 8.13% ($87,370,475) from the 2nd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2016 was $836,383,430, a 62.91% decrease ($1,418,824,336) over the 2nd quarter of 2015.

South Korea was Russia’s 10th largest trading partner in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 2.9042% of Russia’s total trade (down from 3.2310% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

South Korea was Russia’s 11th largest export market in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (down from 8th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 3.0078% of Russia’s total exports (down from 3.6376% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

South Korea was Russia’s 8th largest supplier in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (up from 10th in the 2nd quarter of 2015), accounting for 2.7418% of Russia’s total imports (up from 2.3999% in the 2nd quarter of 2015).

The major share of Russian exports to South Korea in the 2nd quarter of 2016 (and in the 2nd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 70.47% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (77.91% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 15.78% of Russia’s total exports to South Korea (11.88% in the 2nd quarter of 2015);
