Russia’s Trade with Ghana

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Ghana was $51,036,251, down 21.33% ($13,836,586) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $39,150,336, up 11.70% ($4,102,130) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $11,885,915, down 60.15% ($17,938,716) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $27,264,421, a 421.95% increase ($22,040,846) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Ghana was Russia’s 99th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 92nd in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0419% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0511% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Ghana was Russia’s 88th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 90th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0544% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0441% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Ghana was Russia’s 92nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 79th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0238% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0629% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Ghana

The major share of Russian exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 73.11% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (82.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 11.73% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (5.40% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 7.17% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (7.74% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.69% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (0.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.37% of Russia’s total exports to Ghana (3.75% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $1,431,419;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $1,380,796;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $1,256,002;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $383,426.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $420,000;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $293,940.
