Russia’s Trade with India

In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with India totaled $2,027,358,463, up 10.03% ($184,809,436) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to India in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $1,431,557,028, up 12.41% ($158,043,706) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from India in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $595,801,435, up 4.70% ($26,765,730) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade surplus with India in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $835,755,593, a 18.63% increase ($131,277,976) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.

India was Russia’s 16th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 17th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.6628% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.4518% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

India was Russia’s 15th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.9898% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.6014% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

India was Russia’s 20th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 1.1921% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.2008% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to India

The major share of Russian exports to India in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 25.48% of Russia’s total exports to India (18.10% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.72% of Russia’s total exports to India (25.97% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 13.02% of Russia’s total exports to India (19.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 7.36% of Russia’s total exports to India (5.46% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.11% of Russia’s total exports to India (3.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
