Russia’s Trade with Saudi Arabia
In the 3rd quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Saudi Arabia was $173,822,716, down 37.42% ($103,952,204) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.
Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 were $135,234,110, down 44.75% ($109,553,796) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.
Russia’s imports from Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 totaled $38,588,606, up 16.98% ($5,601,592) from the 3rd quarter of 2015.
Russia’s trade surplus with Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 was $96,645,504, a 54.37% decrease ($115,155,388) over the 3rd quarter of 2015.
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 69th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 59th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1426% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.2189% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 61st largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (down from 48th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.1880% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.3078% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).
Saudi Arabia was Russia’s 73rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (up from 76th in the 3rd quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0772% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0696% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).
Russia’s Exports to Saudi Arabia
The major share of Russian exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 82.84% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (84.02% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.23% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (4.65% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
- Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 3.73% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (2.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
- Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.28% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (7.42% in the 3rd quarter of 2015);
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 1.19% of Russia’s total exports to Saudi Arabia (0.93% in the 3rd quarter of 2015).
The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $10,287,500;
- Miscellaneous chemical products (HS code 38) - an increase of $1,135,209;
- Cocoa and cocoa preparations (HS code 18) - an increase of $885,896;
- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $742,777.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the 3rd quarter of 2016 over the 3rd quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $105,103,929;
- Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $14,864,878;
- Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $786,109;
- Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $771,919;
- Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $681,295;
- Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $651,276;
- Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - a decrease of $485,585.
