Russia’s Trade with Kenya

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Kenya was $65,430,058, down 5.72% ($3,972,910) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $39,855,291, up 32.15% ($9,696,216) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2016 were $25,574,767, down 34.83% ($13,669,126) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade balance with Kenya went from a deficit of $9,084,818 in the 4th quarter of 2015, to a surplus of $14,280,524 in the 4th quarter of 2016.

Kenya was Russia’s 93rd largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 87th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0480% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0531% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Kenya was Russia’s 86th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 94th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0475% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0366% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Kenya was Russia’s 85th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (down from 69th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.0488% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0812% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Kenya

The major share of Russian exports to Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 63.30% of Russia’s total exports to Kenya (67.10% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 24.13% of Russia’s total exports to Kenya (12.73% in the 4th quarter of 2015);

  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $2,273,298;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $473,640;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $468,562;
  • Tanning or dyeing extracts; dyes, pigments, paints, varnishes, putty and mastics (HS code 32) - an increase of $137,600.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,390,811;
  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $990,322;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $288,894;

Russia’s Imports from Kenya

The major share of Russian imports from Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

The largest gains in Russia’s imports from Kenya in the 4th quarter of 2016 over the 4th quarter of 2015 were recorded for the following product groups:
