Russia’s Trade with Norway

In the 4th quarter of 2016, Russia’s trade with Norway totaled $520,106,339, up 17.39% ($77,035,608) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s exports to Norway in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $207,008,119, up 7.71% ($14,815,126) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s imports from Norway in the 4th quarter of 2016 totaled $313,098,220, up 24.80% ($62,220,482) from the 4th quarter of 2015.

Russia’s trade deficit with Norway in the 4th quarter of 2016 was $106,090,101, a 80.78% increase ($47,405,356) over the 4th quarter of 2015.

Norway was Russia’s 46th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 48th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.3817% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.3388% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Norway was Russia’s 54th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 55th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.2469% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2332% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Norway was Russia’s 32nd largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2016 (up from 34th in the 4th quarter of 2015), accounting for 0.5972% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.5190% in the 4th quarter of 2015).

Russia’s Exports to Norway

The major share of Russian exports to Norway in the 4th quarter of 2016 (and in the 4th quarter of 2015) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 50.50% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (51.49% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 32.09% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (26.74% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 6.58% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (3.46% in the 4th quarter of 2015);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.51% of Russia’s total exports to Norway (6.29% in the 4th quarter of 2015);

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $2,341,854;
