Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $168,622,961, up 21.94% ($30,342,641) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $17,908,273, up 63.07% ($6,926,039) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $150,714,688, up 18.40% ($23,416,602) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $132,806,415, a 14.18% increase ($16,490,563) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Chile was Russia’s 66th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 68th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1312% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.1424% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Chile was Russia’s 101st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 105th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0215% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0179% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Chile was Russia’s 43rd largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 47th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3333% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3556% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 44.10% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (7.55% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 29.99% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (38.92% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 11.71% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (11.67% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.07% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (1.50% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 3.61% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (3.99% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.84% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.68% in the 1st quarter of 2016);

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $1,986,346;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,551,899;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $495,842.
