Russia’s Trade with Iceland

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Iceland was $6,327,580, down 38.89% ($4,026,872) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Iceland in the 1st quarter of 2017 were $2,410,305, down 63.89% ($4,264,853) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Iceland in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $3,917,275, up 6.47% ($237,981) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Iceland went from a surplus of $2,995,864 in the 1st quarter of 2016, to a deficit of $1,506,970 in the 1st quarter of 2017.

Iceland was Russia’s 133rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 121st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0049% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0107% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Iceland was Russia’s 128th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 117th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0029% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0109% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Iceland was Russia’s 107th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 101st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0087% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0103% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Iceland

The major share of Russian exports to Iceland in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 43.75% of Russia’s total exports to Iceland (14.51% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 38.20% of Russia’s total exports to Iceland (49.56% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 16.84% of Russia’s total exports to Iceland (3.43% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.83% of Russia’s total exports to Iceland (11.16% in the 1st quarter of 2016);

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $171,747;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - a decrease of $81,744;
  • Fish and crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates (HS code 03) - a decrease of $44,176;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $32,020;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $14,911;
  • Articles of stone, plaster, cement, asbestos, mica or similar materials (HS code 68) - a decrease of $13,777;
  • Miscellaneous articles of base metal (HS code 83) - a decrease of $11,963;

Russia’s Imports from Iceland

The major share of Russian imports from Iceland in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 35.50% of Russia’s total imports from Iceland (22.65% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
