Russia’s Trade with Iran

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Iran was $398,720,569, down 1.91% ($7,776,162) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Iran in the 1st quarter of 2017 were $274,900,293, down 9.44% ($28,659,766) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Iran in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $123,820,276, up 20.29% ($20,883,604) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Iran in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $151,080,017, a 24.69% decrease ($49,543,370) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Iran was Russia’s 47th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 43rd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3102% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.4187% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Iran was Russia’s 45th largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 36th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3299% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.4953% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Iran was Russia’s 46th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 50th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2738% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2876% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Iran

The major share of Russian exports to Iran in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 36.85% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (35.86% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 21.79% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (9.40% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 16.97% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (9.46% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 15.63% of Russia’s total exports to Iran (41.03% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
