Russia’s Trade with Portugal

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Portugal totaled $417,055,847, up 217.00% ($285,494,020) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $314,286,076, up 645.72% ($272,140,492) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Portugal in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $102,769,771, up 14.93% ($13,353,528) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Portugal went from a deficit of $47,270,659 in the 1st quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $211,516,305 in the 1st quarter of 2017.

Portugal was Russia’s 45th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 69th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3244% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1355% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 42nd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 81st in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3771% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0688% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Portugal was Russia’s 54th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (down from 53rd in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2273% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2498% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Portugal

The major share of Russian exports to Portugal in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 94.66% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (49.89% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.88% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (8.95% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 1.63% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (11.42% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 0.93% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (8.43% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.41% of Russia’s total exports to Portugal (17.41% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Portugal in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,940,130;

Russia’s Imports from Portugal
