Russia’s Trade with Spain

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Spain totaled $1,243,323,854, up 48.92% ($408,423,178) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Spain in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $593,832,748, up 66.27% ($236,676,349) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Spain in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $649,491,106, up 35.95% ($171,746,829) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Spain in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $55,658,358, a 53.84% decrease ($64,929,520) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Spain was Russia’s 23rd largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 25th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.9672% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.8600% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Spain was Russia’s 33rd largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7126% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.5828% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Spain was Russia’s 17th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 19th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.4364% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.3346% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Spain

The major share of Russian exports to Spain in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 71.85% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (64.53% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 13.55% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (21.83% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 4.11% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (5.72% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 1.67% of Russia’s total exports to Spain (4.20% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
