Russia’s Trade with Sweden

In the 1st quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Sweden totaled $1,018,280,679, up 40.60% ($294,023,711) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Sweden in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $611,478,267, up 45.37% ($190,847,168) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Sweden in the 1st quarter of 2017 totaled $406,802,412, up 33.98% ($103,176,543) from the 1st quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Sweden in the 1st quarter of 2017 was $204,675,855, a 74.93% increase ($87,670,625) over the 1st quarter of 2016.

Sweden was Russia’s 27th largest trading partner in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 28th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7921% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.7460% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Sweden was Russia’s 31st largest export market in the 1st quarter of 2017 (just as in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.7337% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.6864% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Sweden was Russia’s 27th largest supplier in the 1st quarter of 2017 (up from 28th in the 1st quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.8997% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.8482% in the 1st quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Sweden

The major share of Russian exports to Sweden in the 1st quarter of 2017 (and in the 1st quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 75.81% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (75.98% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 18.59% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (16.00% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.80% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (2.47% in the 1st quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 1.18% of Russia’s total exports to Sweden (2.47% in the 1st quarter of 2016);

  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $1,889,003.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Sweden in the 1st quarter of 2017 over the 1st quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
