Russia’s Trade with Chile

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Chile totaled $194,341,126, up 20.76% ($33,408,587) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $16,947,773, up 45.20% ($5,276,066) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $177,393,353, up 18.85% ($28,132,521) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $160,445,580, a 16.61% increase ($22,856,455) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Chile was Russia’s 68th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 71st in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1329% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.1320% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Chile was Russia’s 105th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 114th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0199% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0162% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Chile was Russia’s 46th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.2916% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.2987% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Chile

The major share of Russian exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.75% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (35.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 33.79% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (32.89% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 18.81% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (15.21% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.29% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (4.55% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 2.00% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (4.18% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 0.91% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (2.41% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 0.76% of Russia’s total exports to Chile (4.25% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $2,100,509;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,322,607;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $962,676;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - an increase of $755,135;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $700,704;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - an increase of $449,542;
  • Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof of base metal (HS code 82) - an increase of $266,737;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $164,453;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $67,951.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Chile in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $781,822;
  • Man-made filaments (HS code 54) - a decrease of $394,993;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $111,587;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - a decrease of $74,825;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $51,777.

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 5.79% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (0.05% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.32% of Russia’s total imports from Chile (7.54% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Ores, slag and ash (HS code 26) - an increase of $1,211,485;
