Russia’s Trade with Cyprus

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Cyprus was $56,530,217, down 17.82% ($12,257,699) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $54,644,553, up 26.45% ($11,428,926) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $1,885,664, down 92.63% ($23,686,625) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $52,758,889, a 199.03% increase ($35,115,551) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Cyprus was Russia’s 99th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 89th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0387% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0564% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Cyprus was Russia’s 86th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 85th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0640% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0601% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Cyprus was Russia’s 122nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 81st in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0031% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0512% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Cyprus

The major share of Russian exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 74.43% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (64.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 6.45% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (5.04% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 5.44% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (4.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 5.09% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (1.71% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 4.53% of Russia’s total exports to Cyprus (18.62% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);

  • Ships, boats and floating structures (HS code 89) - an increase of $2,100,000;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $1,984,586;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $1,924,345;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $480,769;
  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $352,099;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $275,969.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Cyprus in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $3,846,658;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $1,406,984;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - a decrease of $1,232,141;
  • Copper and articles thereof (HS code 74) - a decrease of $554,094;
  • Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - a decrease of $525,493;
  • Preparations of cereals, flour, starch or milk; bakers’ wares (HS code 19) - a decrease of $264,338;
  • Electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles (HS code 85) - a decrease of $258,710;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $184,940.
