Russia’s Trade with Indonesia

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Indonesia totaled $780,486,133, up 27.33% ($167,514,133) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $167,220,907, up 60.84% ($63,253,030) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $613,265,226, up 20.48% ($104,261,103) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $446,044,319, a 10.12% increase ($41,008,073) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Indonesia was Russia’s 37th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 39th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.5339% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.5028% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Indonesia was Russia’s 60th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 68th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1959% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.1445% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Indonesia was Russia’s 23rd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 21st in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.0082% of Russia’s total imports (down from 1.0185% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Indonesia

The major share of Russian exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 47.87% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.35% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 20.81% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (9.51% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 14.49% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (47.12% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.75% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (29.61% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 4.44% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (11.15% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.77% of Russia’s total exports to Indonesia (1.00% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $79,218,068;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - an increase of $12,832,573;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - an increase of $12,197,953;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,285,198;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $583,679;
  • Optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof (HS code 90) - an increase of $575,190.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $24,474,980;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $12,362,532;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $3,480,747;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $2,269,001;
  • Pulp of wood or of other fibrous cellulosic material; waste and scrap of paper or paperboard (HS code 47) - a decrease of $659,180.

Russia’s Imports from Indonesia

The major share of Russian imports from Indonesia in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 10.04% of Russia’s total imports from Indonesia (10.59% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
