Russia’s Trade with Switzerland

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Switzerland totaled $1,840,893,037, up 25.42% ($373,074,134) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $1,192,939,880, up 23.54% ($227,272,034) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $647,953,157, up 29.04% ($145,802,100) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $544,986,723, a 17.58% increase ($81,469,934) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Switzerland was Russia’s 19th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 18th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.2593% of Russia’s total trade (up from 1.2039% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Switzerland was Russia’s 20th largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.3975% of Russia’s total exports (up from 1.3422% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Switzerland was Russia’s 22nd largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 1.0652% of Russia’s total imports (up from 1.0048% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Switzerland

The major share of Russian exports to Switzerland in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 41.52% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (23.39% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 28.62% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (50.32% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 25.85% of Russia’s total exports to Switzerland (22.93% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
