Russia’s Trade with the Philippines

In the 3rd quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with the Philippines totaled $145,919,653, up 19.99% ($24,309,884) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 were $32,449,308, down 16.38% ($6,355,317) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 totaled $113,470,345, up 37.03% ($30,665,201) from the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade deficit with the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 was $81,021,037, a 84.14% increase ($37,020,518) over the 3rd quarter of 2016.

The Philippines was Russia’s 74th largest trading partner in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (up from 76th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0998% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0997% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The Philippines was Russia’s 93rd largest export market in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (down from 89th in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0380% of Russia’s total exports (down from 0.0539% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The Philippines was Russia’s 56th largest supplier in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (just as in the 3rd quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.1865% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.1657% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to the Philippines

The major share of Russian exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 59.37% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (57.95% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 18.98% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (15.21% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 14.51% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (7.45% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.00% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (1.49% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 1.05% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (14.03% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.14% of Russia’s total exports to the Philippines (3.80% in the 3rd quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (HS code 24) - an increase of $4,665,875;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $1,105,387;
  • Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - an increase of $408,723;
  • Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included; illuminated sign illuminated nameplates and the like; prefabricated buildings (HS code 94) - an increase of $202,243;
  • Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof (HS code 87) - an increase of $120,151.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 over the 3rd quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - a decrease of $5,143,341;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - a decrease of $3,314,309;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $2,591,375;
  • Aluminum and articles thereof (HS code 76) - a decrease of $1,438,227;
  • Products of the milling industry; malt; starches; inulin; wheat gluten (HS code 11) - a decrease of $217,013;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $214,375.

Russia’s Imports from the Philippines

The major share of Russian imports from the Philippines in the 3rd quarter of 2017 (and in the 3rd quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 80.80% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (81.01% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 10.96% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (8.90% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 3.44% of Russia’s total imports from the Philippines (2.58% in the 3rd quarter of 2016);
