Russia’s Trade with Abkhazia
In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Abkhazia totaled $82,673,382, up 21.52% ($14,642,054) from the 4th quarter of 2016.
Russia’s exports to Abkhazia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $62,527,941, up 25.00% ($12,505,488) from the 4th quarter of 2016.
Russia’s imports from Abkhazia in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $20,145,441, up 11.86% ($2,136,566) from the 4th quarter of 2016.
Russia’s trade surplus with Abkhazia in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $42,382,500, a 32.39% increase ($10,368,922) over the 4th quarter of 2016.
Abkhazia was Russia’s 88th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 92nd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0495% of Russia’s total trade (down from 0.0499% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
Abkhazia was Russia’s 79th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 81st in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0608% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0597% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
Abkhazia was Russia’s 90th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 91st in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0313% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0343% in the 4th quarter of 2016).
Russia’s Exports to Abkhazia
The major share of Russian exports to Abkhazia in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
- Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 36.14% of Russia’s total exports to Abkhazia (30.96% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 21.98% of Russia’s total exports to Abkhazia (26.98% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 15.38% of Russia’s total exports to Abkhazia (10.52% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
- Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 9.43% of Russia’s total exports to Abkhazia (13.22% in the 4th quarter of 2016);

- Glass and glassware (HS code 70) - an increase of $357,539;
- Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations (HS code 33) - an increase of $272,846.
The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Abkhazia in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:
- Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - a decrease of $788,806;
- Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $567,259;
- Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal (HS code 44) - a decrease of $439,002;
