Russia’s Trade with Morocco

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Morocco totaled $542,249,833, up 40.34% ($155,873,859) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $341,267,773, up 74.59% ($145,798,356) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $200,982,060, up 5.28% ($10,075,503) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade surplus with Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2017 was $140,285,713, a 2,974.51% increase ($135,722,853) over the 4th quarter of 2016.

Morocco was Russia’s 49th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 51st in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3244% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.2835% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Morocco was Russia’s 49th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 57th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3318% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.2332% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Morocco was Russia’s 44th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 43rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.3127% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.3641% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Morocco

The major share of Russian exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 77.66% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (51.76% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 5.71% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (19.03% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 5.02% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (3.24% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 0.63% of Russia’s total exports to Morocco (9.22% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $5,559,733;
  • Residues and waste from the food industries; prepared animal feed (HS code 23) - an increase of $2,378,775;
  • Plastics and articles thereof (HS code 39) - an increase of $1,290,747.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Morocco in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Cereals (HS code 10) - a decrease of $20,328,690;
  • Iron and steel (HS code 72) - a decrease of $15,566,179;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - a decrease of $4,984,807.

  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 77.73% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (82.29% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 10.91% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (10.72% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 3.93% of Russia’s total imports from Morocco (1.36% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
