Russia’s Trade with Pakistan

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Pakistan totaled $147,240,607, up 78.20% ($64,615,137) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $89,995,021, up 132.94% ($51,361,425) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $57,245,586, up 30.13% ($13,253,712) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Pakistan went from a deficit of $5,358,278 in the 4th quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $32,749,435 in the 4th quarter of 2017.

Pakistan was Russia’s 79th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 90th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0881% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0606% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 73rd largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 87th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0875% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0461% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Pakistan was Russia’s 70th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 72nd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0891% of Russia’s total imports (up from 0.0839% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Pakistan

The major share of Russian exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 55.30% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (11.61% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 17.26% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (45.19% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 11.42% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (10.51% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 7.77% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (21.62% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 5.22% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (8.95% in the 4th quarter of 2016);
  • Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 2.93% of Russia’s total exports to Pakistan (1.71% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

The largest gains in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $3,943,584;
  • Mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation; bituminous substances; mineral waxes (HS code 27) - an increase of $1,910,144;
  • Nuclear reactors, boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances; parts thereof (HS code 84) - an increase of $1,761,416;
  • Pharmaceutical products (HS code 30) - an increase of $1,590,176;
  • Fertilizers (HS code 31) - an increase of $755,785;
  • Rubber and articles thereof (HS code 40) - an increase of $730,704;
  • Cereals (HS code 10) - an increase of $512,773.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Pakistan in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers (HS code 07) - a decrease of $2,328,122;
  • Articles of iron or steel (HS code 73) - a decrease of $1,175,971;
  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,095,592;
  • Organic chemicals (HS code 29) - a decrease of $745,486;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - a decrease of $669,163.
