Russia’s Trade with Tanzania

In the 4th quarter of 2017, Russia’s trade with Tanzania totaled $49,592,345, up 49.00% ($16,309,687) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s exports to Tanzania in the 4th quarter of 2017 totaled $44,223,576, up 170.71% ($27,887,371) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s imports from Tanzania in the 4th quarter of 2017 were $5,368,769, down 68.32% ($11,577,684) from the 4th quarter of 2016.

Russia’s trade balance with Tanzania went from a deficit of $610,248 in the 4th quarter of 2016, to a surplus of $38,854,807 in the 4th quarter of 2017.

Tanzania was Russia’s 100th largest trading partner in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 111th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0297% of Russia’s total trade (up from 0.0244% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Tanzania was Russia’s 90th largest export market in the 4th quarter of 2017 (up from 107th in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0430% of Russia’s total exports (up from 0.0195% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Tanzania was Russia’s 104th largest supplier in the 4th quarter of 2017 (down from 93rd in the 4th quarter of 2016), accounting for 0.0084% of Russia’s total imports (down from 0.0323% in the 4th quarter of 2016).

Russia’s Exports to Tanzania

The major share of Russian exports to Tanzania in the 4th quarter of 2017 (and in the 4th quarter of 2016) was accounted for the following product types:

  • Inorganic chemicals; organic or inorganic compounds of precious metals, of rare-earth metals,of radioactive elements or of isotopes (HS code 28) - an increase of $298,719;
  • Salt; sulfur; earths and stone; plastering materials, lime and cement (HS code 25) - an increase of $226,269;
  • Animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes (HS code 15) - an increase of $192,341.

The largest declines in Russia’s exports to Tanzania in the 4th quarter of 2017 over the 4th quarter of 2016 were recorded for the following product groups:

  • Paper and paperboard; articles of paper pulp, of paper or of paperboard (HS code 48) - a decrease of $1,111,827;
  • Beverages, spirits and vinegar (HS code 22) - a decrease of $524,275;
  • Meat and edible meat offal (HS code 02) - a decrease of $196,737.
